Clay courts are naturally red with a little bit of brown. For years, this has been the colour all over the world. No one ever thought it could be any other colour but red. So, when the clay courts of Madrid turns blue, many players see red, chief of them all, Nadal, the undisputed king of clay. His beloved red clay suddenly turn blue, so much so that he just couldn't come to term with it. He couldn't play his game. The result? He got beat, so early in the tournament.
