Struggling to find a routine

I am still struggling to stick to a routine since my retirement. Although I still wake up at almost the same time in the morning to do my morning prayer, my breakfast is sometime at eight, sometime at nine and can even be at ten on some days. The same goes with my lunch and dinner. Bed time also varies considerably. As for my jogging session, its gone haywire! Terrible! I must find a routine. Its for my long term well being......

Should have known better

I was in Kota Damansara yesterday to meet some friends. The place has changed so much that it is almost unrecognisable from the Kota Damansara of say, ten years ago. I remember driving through the place many many years ago. The traffic was barely visible. The place looked deserted, a failed development I thought. Many people regretted buying land there. Now, it is booming! If only ....

Wimbledon then

I remember my days in England when Wimbledon comes around. It means summer is back and I'II be in the midst of a three months university break. Back then, Bjorn Borg was the star player. I would watch him on TV, marveling at his tennis artistry. Then one summer, a new star in the name of John McEnroe emerged. He would rage and shout his way to the title, a complete contrast to the ice cool Borg. The two weeks of Wimbledon would soon be over. The days would start to get cooler and colder, a sure sign that summer is over.

Wimbledon is here again

I'm staring at the computer thinking of what to write while the TV is showing Sharapova playing her quarter finals match in this latest edition of Wimbledon. Although I'm not watching it, I can tell its her by the sound of her consistent grunt. Nadal I'm sure will be one of the main contenders for the men singles title but I have a feeling, the new Australian sensation, Tomic, will be making more headlines news before its over.

Reflection

Thirty two years ago, when I first started work, my salary was about a thousand ringgit. The price of a Honda Civic was about sixteen thousand while that of an Accord was about twenty one thousand. Today, starting salary for a graduate is about two thousand. However, the price of a Civic is about ninety thousand while that of an Accord is about one hundred and sixty thousand. You figure it out yourself what I'm trying to say!

Cure for diabetes?

Research has shown that eating very very low calorie diet over a short period of time can cure type 2 diabetes. Came across this new found cure for diabetes while reading a newspaper in the internet. Hope this is the answer to diabetes sufferers all over the world. If it is so, it will help millions get rid of their problem once and for all.

Malaysia in elite Asian group

To be playing with Japan, Korea and the rest of the Asian football giants in an Olympic qualifying tournament is great. After such a long long time, it is just unbelievable. Lets hope they don't get overwhelm. They need to have believe in their ability, not to simply kick the ball away. Hold the ball, pass it around. Remember, possession is the name of the game.

Belated father's day

In my teens, I was never on the best of terms with my father. I felt he didn't understand me. Worse, he never even bothered to try, at least that was how I felt. It was that bad. Thinking back, I know now that I was wrong, very very wrong. Lucky thing God gave me the opportunity to make amend. Although I can never ever repay him for all the things that he has done for me, at least I can rest assured that I have done my best. May God bless his soul!

Malaysia 2 Lebanon 0...half time

Malaysian football is on the upswing. Leading Lebanon by 2-0 at half time in the Olympic qualifier, chances are the boys are going to make it to the top twelve in Asia. That is an achievement indeed if you consider how long we have been in the pits. Keep it up!

The story behind

Mcllroy's father took on three jobs for four years, working 100 hours a week, in order to pay for his son's golfing lessons and to take part in tournaments. In addition, his mother worked shifts to lend her support. That's the story behind the champion that Mcllroy is now. It seldom gets told. The sacrifices has paid off handsomely. As parents, are we prepared to do the same?

Valuable lesson from Mcllroy

Never let a disappointment takes over your life, no matter how big it was. That's one lesson we can learn from Rory Mcllroy's win at the US open. A heartbreak of a disastrous meltdown at the Masters followed by the same in Malaysia, albeit on a smaller scale just days later, failed to break him. This is not to mention what happened at the British Open last year! He came back even stronger. An eight stroke win at the US open. It couldn't have been any better. I take a lot of positives from his win in living my own life. No matter that I am much older than him!

School days

Looking down from my verandah to the school opposite, can't help but remember my schooldays with great fondness. One teacher said, schooldays are the best days of your life. There's nothing to worry about. All you need to do is study. So don't waste it. Enjoy it while you can. Having gone through all the years after leaving school, I know now for sure that what the teacher said is .... true.

Get on with it!

This life is a roller coaster all right. One time you are on top and another time you are at the bottom. How I wish I am at the top all the time. Then life is a like a tsunami. Anything that gets in the way gets swept away. Life would be easy then. You just get on with the routine. Nothing to bother. But no! Life is not like that. You have to ride the roller coaster, like it or not. Which also means sometimes you find yourself at the bottom. When that happens, there's not much you can do except to grit your teeth and get on with it. Yes.....get on with it, all the time keeping your faith in God.

I'm feeling it

Not only has my hand phone stopped ringing, my emails are also getting less and less. The frequency of receiving emails are few and far between. It may be days before I would received one. I guess that's life when you are retired.........

That's life

This month, I had two cars breakdown and a third car sent for repair. The two breakdown were my sons cars while the repair was for my car. At the end of it all, I had to fork out quite a sum. Its murphys law working allright. Terrible! Anyway, looking at the bright side, the cars are now up and running. There were no unpleasant incident happening except for having to drive one car with the temperature really high. Every now and then, we had to stop, filled up the radiator and drive again until we reach the house.

So quiet

Nowadays my handphone hardly ring. Its a far cry from when I was working when it will ring every now and then. But even then, more than ninety percent of the calls/sms I received or made were related to work. The moment I stopped working, the calls/sms also stopped obviously. Don't know if I am actually missing it but one thing I know, it sure is a quieter life now.

Get back the discipline

To feel free and be free is something I have always craved for. Its something I wanted to do for a long long time but never had the chance until now. The moment I know I can afford to do so, I wasted no time in doing so. Its really a great feeling. However, I do miss one thing. Its the discipline of working life. Somehow, I need to find that discipline again. Its important for my long term health, in mind and body.

Jotting

I'm sitting by the verandah writing my crap. Thirteen floor below me, the vehicles can be seen coming and going. Everybody has things to do for sure. I just heard the bell rang a second ago. That means recess time for the students at the school opposite. About one kilometre away from where I'm sitting, I can see the MRT quite clearly. One has just made a stop while another is leaving. Further away into the horizon, KL skyline is crystal clear. I can see KLCC and KL Tower standing majestically side by side. Its sunny today unlike yesterday when it rained non stop. I thought I can almost see Seremban from where I am..........

Up up and away

Skycrapers of KL

These gadgets!

My smart phone have been giving me problems of late. Every now and then, without me doing anything, it gets hot. That's when it will start to slow and finally, hang. Really frustrating when I'm in the midst of sending messages. Sometimes I wonder if going back to the simple hand phone would be a better option. All I need is to make and receive call. The rest are incidental. I don't need them.

Its the cup final tonight

With the football season over, I'm lost as to what to do come Saturday night. Usually, I would be sitting in front of the TV, waiting in eager anticipation for the matches to begin. Can't wait for August to come when the new season will start. Oh.....I almost forgot. Tonight, Kelantan will play Trengganu in the FA cup final! That's something to look forward to......

Mail hoax

Almost everyday I read of people getting conned of thousands of ringgit by syndicates through the internet. These syndicates are clever. Somehow they managed to get people to give away money to people they hardly knew. One time, out of the blue I received mail from a 'woman' who was interested in me. Right from the start I was suspicious. Lucky thing for later I read that many people have been conned by these kind of mail, only to discover that it was all a hoax. To add insult to injury, thousand of dollars have already gone by then.

Still enjoying it

Been almost two months since I went on leave prior to retirement. Up till now, I am still enjoying the carefree time that I never had while working the last thirty two years. Thought I would miss the adrenaline of working life after a while but so far, it never even cross my mind. I'm too busy savouring the freedom that I'm having right now. Its a bliss!

How time has changed

More than thirty years ago in 1974, I applied for my first passport as part of the preparation to go to England for further studies. After filling in all the forms plus other requirements and handing them to the authorities, I had to wait about two months before I received my passport. Nowadays, applying and getting your passport is much easier and shorter. Two hours only. I wait for the day when it will be immediate!

Have you heard of a ........?

Inviting relatives and friends to a wedding do is normal. However, have you heard of a divorce do? Yes, its happening. The event will have all the ingredients of a wedding celebration except that this time, its for a divorce. Instead of cutting the wedding cake, the climax of the event will be the bashing of the wedding ring, done together by the separating couple. Wow! and where is this happening. Japan off course!

Solat and Patience

In the Quran, patience is closely associated with the solat. Why? Simple actually. Solat hinders us from committing sins while patience means refraining from committing sins. Therefore, solat helps us to be patience by hindering us from committing sins. Understood?

Can England succeed?

How long can Barcelona continue playing football the way they are playing? As long as they have the players, I believe they can continue for a long time yet. The name of the game is possession. Don't let your opponent touch the ball for without the ball, they cannot do much! I hear England is wanting to follow the same way starting with the kids. Don't allow kids to play eleven a side football until they are fourteen. That way, they will develop the art of passing and controlling the ball. It will be ingraned in them!

The passion remains

Been busy lately with house errands here and there. Just couldn't find the time to indulge in my favourite past time, writing whatever that comes to mind and publish them in my blog. Been doing that for almost three years now but the passion remains. Never mind that I write rubbish and nobody reads them. I am just enjoying what I am doing!

Nadal vs Federer

Its Nadal vs Federer again in the French Open final. Although Djokovic was odds on favourite to beat Federer in the semis, Federer has other ideas. The defeat of Djokovic means Nadal is now the favourite to lift the title for the sixth time. Still, don't discount Federer. The old master still has some tricks up his sleeve. Nadal could be beaten for the first time in the final. Who knows......
